Starting with the Violence: Ending Gender Inequality in Emerging Markets

I signed a letter that appeared in the Guardian today, along with Lady Justice Ang’awa of Kenya, Rodrigo Botero of Colombia, Baroness Mary Goudie, Dean Ngaire Woods of the Blavatnik School, and Shengman Zhang, chair of Citi Asia Pacific, calling attention to the unconscionable level of violence against women around the world and gesturing to the need to reduce gender inequality in the emerging markets.

I am really pleased that this letter has appeared, as one of several items that will be forthcoming in the world press showing the results of the Emerging Markets Symposium recently in Oxford.  The event brought 50 leaders from across sectors and around the world to consider the implications of the gender gap in countries with growing economies.
