It was a wonderful moment. The Vice Chancellor came down the center of the Nelson Mandela Theatre to standing applause. He stopped on stage to explain the range of venues for financial inclusion for women, from savings accounts for the poor to careers on Wall Street. And he reminded us why it is important: it builds communities, helps them stabilize and prosper.
And then he walked across the stage, sat down, and signed the petition first. The Dean and I followed. Next a small group of sponsors and keynotes. And we all cheered. Afterward, we popped the cork and everyone signed. Then the tweeting started.
Our hope is to turn those impressions in online signatories. Please go here to sign. Become a part of history.
