For a business to be certified as women-owned, one or more women must own at least 51% of the business. Why? It's all about control. Maggie Berry, Executive Director for WEConnect International in Europe, will speak on women-owned businesses at this year's Power Shift.
Executive Director for Europe
Maggie joined WEConnect International in December 2012. A corporate-led non-profit, the organisation’s goal is to connect more majority owned women’s businesses (those that are at least 51% owned, managed and controlled by one or more women) into the global corporate supply chain, connecting SMEs with the growing demand from corporations and the public sector for diverse and innovative suppliers. She has responsibility for the management, leadership and development of WEConnect International in Europe. Her role involves developing corporate and public sector support as well as growing and developing the network of self-registered and certified women-owned businesses across the UK and Europe. Previously Maggie was the Managing Director of womenintechnology.co.uk – an online job board, recruitment and networking forum for women working in the technology profession in the UK and Maggie continues to run the Women in Technology Network in her spare time.
